The Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training is a foundational course of study. It is grounded in current research and designed to provide up-to-date, evidence-based information to the prevention field, and is a 40-hour training (including a pre-training online session).
Who is the training for?
Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training is meant for people who are new to prevention work and those working in related fields such as public health, education, law enforcement, youth work, faith communities, and healthcare. This course is also applicable to members of coalitions working to improve community health.
What does the training provide?
- Knowledge and skills to implement effective, data-driven prevention programs, practices, and policies that reduce health disparities and improve wellness.
- A certificate for 31 hours of participation eligible for the Certified Prevention Professional credential. Also approved for credits from the Board of Social work.
$250 – includes training manual and breakfast, lunch and snacks each training day
Not included: evening meals, hotel, transportation, or fees associated with applying for and submitting the CPP certificate
All refunds will be charged a 10% ($25) administrative fee and will be issued up to 7 days before the training.
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Country Inn & Suites connected to the Sanford Center. Rooms are available for check-in on June 2nd and check-out on June 6th at a rate of $109/night (plus tax). This room block will not be available after May 2nd, 2019.
